Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic

The Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic is a specialty clinic within UT Health Austin Pediatric Neurosciences at Dell Children’s, a clinical partnership between Dell Children’s Medical Center and UT Health Austin.

The Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic diagnoses, treats, and manages the care of children and adolescents who are experiencing mobility limitations as a result of medical conditions of the central nervous system that may be affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, or tendons. We offer expertise across a variety of mobility limitations, such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, spinal muscular atrophy, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury. Our goal is to enhance and restore your child’s functional ability so that they can return to carrying out activities of their daily living.

The Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic care team is comprised of nationally recognized physicians and advanced practice providers who offer highly specialized care for pediatric patients who are experiencing mobility limitations as a result of medical conditions of the central nervous system. Our physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists also participate in many of our multidisciplinary specialty centers that focus on specific complex populations. If your child has a condition that aligns with one of our specialty centers, we will coordinate care for your child with a specialist in that area. We can also facilitate appointments with any other neuroscience specialty clinic, such as the Pediatric Neurology Clinic, Pediatric Neuro-Ophthalmology Clinic, Pediatric Neuropsychology Clinic, and Pediatric Neurosurgery Clinic. With access to expert staff and advanced technology for treating both acute and chronic neurological conditions, we provide a wide range of services, from evaluation, testing, and diagnosis to surgical treatment, disease management, rehabilitation, and more, to give patients and their families the best quality of life.

Our diagnostic and treatment capabilities within the Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic are aligned with state-of-the-art neurological care and include 3T MRI, three-dimensional stereo-EEG, muscle ultrasound, electromyography (EMG), botulinum toxin injection, functional MRI (fMRI), magnetoencephalography (MEG), MR spectroscopy, and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Our seamless affiliation with Dell Children’s Medical Center also offers the highest level of expertise across inpatient and outpatient settings to enhance treatment precision and improve our understanding of your child’s concern.
